Upload the plugin folder to `/wp-content/plugins/accessible-docs` or install via the WordPress Plugin Directory. 2. Activate **Accessible Docs** through the **Plugins** screen in WordPress. 3. Go to **AccessibleDocs** in the admin menu and enter the email and password of your [AccessibleDocs account](https://platform.accessibledocs.ai/sign-up). The popup is not added to the site until both are saved. 4. Go to **AccessibleDocs > Popup settings**, check **Enable popup** (it is disabled by default) and adjust the texts. On multilingual sites (WPML/Polylang) repeat this for each language. 5. If you use a page cache, clear it. Visitors clicking a PDF from your Media Library will now see the popup. ## FAQ ### Will my uploaded PDFs be stored anywhere? The plugin itself only stores a request log (visitor email, file, date, status) in your WordPress database. The PDF is sent to the AccessibleDocs platform for processing and stored in your AccessibleDocs account. ### Is the plugin free to use? The plugin is free to install, but it requires an active AccessibleDocs subscription to process documents. ### Does it work with external PDF URLs? No, currently only PDFs uploaded to your WordPress Media Library are supported. ### Is the popup accessible via keyboard and screen readers? Yes, the popup is designed to be keyboard-navigable and screen-reader friendly. ### Can I customize the popup content or style? Yes. All popup texts can be changed in **AccessibleDocs > Popup settings**. The appearance can be adjusted with CSS in your theme (see Custom Styling). ### How do I track user requests for accessible documents? View all requests under **AccessibleDocs > Documents List** in the WordPress admin panel. Search by file name or email and filter by date range and status. ### Does the plugin support multilingual websites? Yes, it’s fully compatible with WPML and Polylang. You can translate popup content per language. ### Will users get the accessible file instantly? No. Processing takes some time (the default popup text says up to 24 hours). When the file is ready, the AccessibleDocs platform emails the accessible version to the address the visitor entered. ### Is the request status in Documents List updated automatically? Yes. Once an hour the plugin asks the AccessibleDocs platform about requests that are still being processed (for up to 30 days) and marks finished ones as completed. ### Can I limit or disable the popup on specific pages or languages? The popup can be enabled or disabled per language (WPML/Polylang). Per-page control is not available yet – when enabled, the popup appears for PDF links on all pages. ### The popup does not appear. What should I check? Make sure the AccessibleDocs email and password are saved, **Enable popup** is checked for the current language, the link points to a PDF in your Media Library, and your page cache is cleared.
